Some toys are still insecure

Looking ahead to Christmas, consumer associations focus on the best-selling items on these dates, toys.

And for our concern as consumers and as parents, according to a study conducted by the OCU (Organization of Consumers and Users) together with organizations in Belgium, Italy and Portugal, half of the toys they have analyzed cannot be considered totally safe.

Of a total of 77 European toys, 23 Spanish, only 43 have passed the safe toy test. Of the 23 Spaniards, only 11 do not present any risk to children. To verify this, each toy was subjected to different tests. Among the hazards were labeling defects, dangerous elements, shrill noise, toxic substances, etc.

This means that almost 1 in 2 toys moved to the toy shelves does not comply with the required safety regulations. Sometimes consumers do not have a clinical eye to detect possible dangers in toys such as the feathers of a costume or as we see in the photo, an eye that can take off and the child can suffocate when swallowed, put it in the nose or in the nose. ear.

The OCU presented the results of this study to the National Institute of Consumption and the Community of Madrid to make the relevant checks to determine whether these toys should be recalled or not.

It has not been disseminated what specific toys it is (the data can only be accessed as a member of the OCU), but as soon as they are verified, the agency involved will announce the withdrawal of the sale of the toys it considers.

In any case, when buying a toy we must keep in mind certain recommendations to preserve the safety of our children.
