How to get adults to respect the red light, perhaps if the signal dances?

We are not made to wait. It costs us horrors, probably because it seems that for everything we have to wait, stand in line, wait for our turn and prefer to go our way, move, move on. The problem is that there are times when not waiting can be harmful for children, because adults act as an example.

One of those moments is when there is a red light that tells us, as pedestrians, what to expect. Two or three cars pass by, none of them circulate and adults cross. What does a child learn that sees that behavior? Than the elderly disobey clear rules, and this can be dangerous for them. Smart people thought about how they could solve this and they came up with a great idea: a dancing sign.

The incredible invention

As you can see in the video, they transformed a signal so that the red character, the one who is still, still, frozen, pausing the life that happens while for several seconds he does nothing, in one full of vitality, joy and movement. A "doll" that dances.

To give variety they made the dance, that the steps, were the work of volunteers who entered a large traffic light where cameras captured their movements and, in real time, transferred that information to the traffic light. They got that 81% more people stopped.

Does the traffic light not dance? Search for children before crossing

We have all done it, we all do it and we will continue doing it. No car comes to the right or left and that minute stopped seems most absurd. However, many times we cross when there is a child by our side, alone or with his family, also detained. They should pay attention to the signal because children will not always be able to control traffic.. They do have to wait until it turns green and the parents work hard so that, if one day the children go alone, or get ahead of our steps for whatever reason, they are clear about how the signal works.

However, the work parents do is questioned when adults skip the signal in front of them. Many children ask their parents "why do they pass, if it is in red?", And parents should imagine an answer to avoid saying "because they are so useless that they don't think that giving you that example can be terrible for you."

Are you not in a hurry? stand up

Walking on the street sometimes seems a sum of meters and minutes that only serve to take us from one point to another. Come on, a span of time and a stretch of distance that we would like to spend as quickly as possible. All fast, all looking only in front, or on the mobile, or nothing in particular. Does nobody enjoy the road anymore?

I say it because if you are not in a hurry, if it really does not matter if you arrive 5 minutes later, it may be worth walking more slowly, stopping at traffic lights even if no car comes, observing the city, people, your daily life, the streets, look at the buildings, the rooftops (incredible the amount of detail in the high parts of the buildings that you suddenly discover and had always been there).

Come on, in short, reduce stress, haste and give your mind and body a little stimuli and pause. It is a pinch of happiness, but not everyone knows how to value it. And look, if one day you cross a family at a traffic light, they will appreciate that you stop for being in red.
