The emotional images of a cancer patient who leaves the ICU to witness the birth of his baby

Cagney Wenk, 26, is one of those stories that make us stop and take perspective. He was expecting his first child with his partner Jessica Li when three weeks before she left the account she was diagnosed with a very aggressive brain cancer in grade four.

He began to be treated at a hospital in Colorado (United States), the same where his wife gave birth days later. When she started labor, the hospital staff wanted to surprise her and he was taken from the ICU where he was admitted to the delivery room so he could witness the birth of his son. The result is these emotional images captured by photographer Sarah Boccolucci

The special arrival the world of Levon

Levon's Birth Story from SarahBoccolucciPhotography on Vimeo.

Levon was born on September 18 and the scene was very different from what his parents had dreamed of, and perhaps that is why his arrival in the world was even more emotional. On that special day, when Jessica was giving birth, doctors and nurses plotted to get Cagney left ICU for a moment and met his son.

The transfer was complex due to the delicate state in which the father is, who has had to undergo chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Even as explained by her sister, Marissa Wenk, to The Huffington Post, doctors had to remove a part of her skull to reduce the pressure she suffered in that area.

The photographer who captured the emotional images of birth, voluntarily performed this service and shared the video on social networks along with a link to the non-profit organization GiverForward that helps with donations to those families that are going through similar tragedies. Sarah comments:

"The video is for the family to have the memory of a magical moment. I think their reactions show it all. There were so many tears, so many emotions and so much love!"
