Pregnancy after uterine cancer

In the Italian hospital of Buenos Aires (Argentina), they have achieved a woman's pregnancy after suffering from uterine cancer thanks to a radical trachelectomy. This is a technique that allows you to preserve fertility when there is cervical cancer. It is not a novel technique, but it is good to know that since its inception it is allowing several women who have suffered cervical cancer to be mothers.

Treating malignant tumors of the cervix with one of the two techniques used so far, radical surgery or irradiation associated with chemotherapy, allowed excellent results for the healing of women, but as a side effect the possibility was completely lost of conceiving a child

The radical trachelectomy allows fertility to be preserved before the possibility of cervical cancer provided it is diagnosed in time. This technique is based on the total removal of the cervix, including the parametria and pelvic nodes, but in turn the uterine body, fallopian tubes and ovaries are preserved.

A further step has been taken that has allowed a woman treated with this technique to achieve a pregnancy and thus her well-being and personal satisfaction for being a mother. In the world, more than 350 cases have already been treated with surprising results thanks to this technique.
