Music therapy for pregnant women

Music therapy is widely used in the treatment of children with some kind of sensory, physical or mental disability because it helps them to socialize, to communicate better with their environment and to relax.

Music also favors the development of premature babies, we have seen that it helps to stimulate breastfeeding and some women find it very effective to give birth.

The music therapy is also an ideal way to establish an emotional bond with the unborn child, to connect with our baby that is growing in the womb. It helps to unlock both the physical and emotional tensions of the mother during pregnancy and to eliminate anxiety and fear of childbirth, which positively influences the development of the baby.

As we have explained in the Special Pregnancy posts about the growth of the baby week by week, the baby is able to hear and feel the stimuli coming from abroad from the fourth month.

Babies who have received the influence of music in a sequential and orderly manner from pregnancy accept breastfeeding better, eat and sleep better and cry less.

Prenatal auditory stimulation helps improve concentration as well as coordination and creativity of the unborn child.

In the mother, she promotes the self-awareness of her own body and her feelings during pregnancy. The music helps to connect both with the baby and with herself, allowing her to fully enjoy her pregnancy.

Music therapy sessions in pregnancy usually take place once a week led by a professional, can be individual or group. Likewise, parents can set up their own private sessions by placing music at home (special music is sold for the unborn baby) providing a quiet environment that allows them to connect with the baby.
