Two years ago, a friend of the mother videotaped how the 3-year-old boy took a cigarette from his mother, lit it and started smoking it while the mother was absent. The images ended up in local social services, which decided to intervene, denouncing the mother.

It seems that the mother, Kelly Marie Pocock, was surprised to learn that her son smoked, which has not prevented the sentence of estrangement from his mother for 40 weeks and supervision of social services for a year. Condemnation that could have been worse, since the judge in charge of the case ensures that the mother has not gone to jail for her considerable efforts to attend parenting courses after the incident. The custody of the child was also in danger, but the judge did not want to separate him from the mother.
The judge says that it has been one of the most surprising cases he has faced, and that the fact that the child did not show discomfort when smoking could only be possible if I had already acquired the habit.
