They look like babies but they are not real: reborn

This sweet sleeping baby is called Elisabeth and although she seems to be alive and breathing, she doesn't. It is made with a mold. It is a technique called reborn art which we have already talked about on some occasion and that tries to reproduce as realistically as possible the appearance of real babies.

The artist, author of the brand Reborn Mimitos, explains his technique. The face painting is done with a lot of delicacy, painting the small veins and the roughnesses typical of the skin of newborns. The hair is putting hair by hair, one for each follicle, and that is why this realistic aspect is achieved. Feet and hands carry a delicate manicure. Everything is done to make the appearance of these figures be that of a living little boy. Even the body, filled, looks like a child's when taken in arms. And really they are a wonder of realism and tenderness.

It is not about toys, but works of art, sculptures full of life, for collectors, souvenirs or therapies. However, the question of the figure of babies causes me some uneasiness, and I don't know the reason. If I think about it, it's like a photo or a movie, but it still makes me feel uncomfortable.

They are true wonders, of that there is no doubt, but the truth is that I would not want to have done it to my son no matter how much I sometimes wish to see him asleep again, with that sweetness that only newborns have.

However babies reborn they serve, in addition to being works of art, for therapies for autistic children and for people who have not had or who have lost a child. What do you think?
