Sleep while you can

Those of us who have small children, and more especially newborn babies, no longer remember what it is like to sleep all night.

While over time one gets used to cursing (the nights I've slept without waking up in the last 5 and a half years are counted on the fingers of one hand), My recommendation for all recent mothers is to sleep while they can.

Fatigue makes a dent in our body and in our mood. We become more irritable and ultimately we are with less energy to care for our babies and the rest of the children, if there are any.

Therefore, I advise you if you can not sleep at night do it during the day, even if at times. Before dinner, on weekends, a nod after lunch, in the taxi ...

Ideally, sleep when the baby sleeps. But of course, while the little one sleeps we want to take advantage of doing things that have been pending such as doing laundry or taking a quiet bath. Anyway, the priority is to rest and replace the batteries, so close your eyes and try to sleep even a few minutes. A restful sleep, even if it is short, feels great.

The baby sleeps more comfortably on mom, so if you put it on your chest you can sleep both at the same time and probably sleep longer than if she were in the crib.

It is desirable to have someone give you a hand with the care of the baby at home, so while you recover hours of sleep that person can take care of the child.

There are mothers who have no relatives nearby who can lend a hand, and probably have more children to attend, as is my case. But that from experience I advise you to simplify your lives and rest with the baby. The first is you and your baby. Sleep while you can, the rest can wait.
