More and more children move from private to public education

As expected, the crisis has reached the private schools, since the economic situation that many families are going through makes more and more children move from private to public education, a fact that is especially noticeable in the early childhood education.

According to the Association of Autonomous Private Education Centers (Acade), last year students have fallen between 5 and 20 percent in private schools, especially in nursery schools, which have suffered a decrease of 15.8 percent, to be treated, together in the baccalaureate of stages of non-compulsory education.

For sample, a button. In the Community of Madrid, private education lost a total of 1,960 students last year, while public schools enrolled 12,632 more students. The concert also added almost 5,000 students.

In addition to the drop in students, in private centers, the crisis has also been noticed in complementary activities and services such as school transportation routes or the dining room. In schools, the hiring of the school transport service has decreased by 7 percent, while in the Early Childhood Centers there has been a decrease in the workforce by 10 percent and the dining room service by 16 percent.

The children's stage is where the decrease in students is most evident, as families look for alternative solutions. Either they leave the children to the care of the grandparents or other relatives, or in many families it is the case that one of the parents is unemployed and can personally take care of their child. With the disadvantage and the advantage that both things suppose.

Even so, although public education wins "customers", the increase in students comes from cuts, noting them mainly in substitutions, support and compensation classrooms for students with school delays, which they believe will be compromised quality.

The situation does not seem very favorable for private schools and schools for the near future. In addition, with the announcement of the single school zone in the Community of Madrid for the next course, it is expected that in this region the escape of students from private to public is even greater because of the possibility of choosing a school.
