The most popular baby names in the United States (2011)

The United States Social Security Administration has just made public the list of the most popular baby names in 2011, a ranking to consider if you are expecting a child and want to be original when it comes to naming it.

Highlights Jacob as the most used for men, after 13 consecutive years, while Sophia He has taken first place taking it away from Isabella, a name that made the "Twilight" film saga fashionable.

Mason is the second most used name for children, being the only new name that has appeared as a novelty in the list of the ten most popular in both sexes. In addition, Michael has disappeared from the top five names for the first time in 63 years.

How could it be otherwise, there are names that emerge strongly due to the popularity of some characters of cinema, television, sports… For example, the appellation that most increased its popularity was Brantlye (from position 736 to 320), due to a boom of local famous people with that name, such as the American football player John Brantley or the singer Brantley Gilbert.

Among the girls, the name that rose the most was Briella (from position 891 to 497), perhaps reflecting the impact on the pop culture of the stylist Briella Calafiore, protagonist of reality television programs.
