Pocoyo and José Manuel Calderón join UNICEF in the Drops for Niger project

All summer I have been watching in the bus shelters of Madrid posters with Pocoyo and José Manuel Calderón. And the two are attached to UNICEF in the task of helping children in Niger see their right to education fulfilled. In that country of Africa less than half of the schoolchildren can complete their primary education. The problem, as indicated on the UNICEF website, is the absence of adequate school facilities where there is no access to drinking water or sanitation facilities.

So Pocoyo and Calderón encourage Spanish schools to join the campaign Drops for Niger from UNICEF Spain, adding small efforts to achieve a great common goal: to bring one million children to school.

The video below shows how Pocoyo and his friend Pato work hard to get water to a school where there is no source of drinking water. The work is produced by Zinkia Entertainment for the benefit of UNICEF and simply explains the harsh reality of Niger. A reality in which only 15% of schools in that country have access to drinking water.

As you can read on the UNICEF website, the way to help improve the conditions of Niger students is that each center organizes Racing Drops. This is the fifth edition and more than 30,000 children a year have participated in each of the previous four. The races can be held throughout the year although it is March 22, when World Water Day is celebrated, when there is more participation.

We encourage all centers that wish to participate to access the page to register their career.
