'Le premier cri': a documentary of contrasts that excites counting ten very different births from each other

A few days ago I remembered a documentary that I had seen years ago, rather I found it again with the network. Is about 'Le Premier Cri' of 2007, in which Gilles de Maistre shows us ten different deliveries between them.

I saw him with my children, and I was surprised by the attitude of the elder (he is almost ten years old) who until now had refused to see images of births. Both enjoyed, although as it is quite long, I was in charge of selecting fragments so that they did not get tired.

Le Premier Cri shows images that many people find hard (our society is so denatured that we are impressed to see the expulsion of a birth, despite the beauty of the moment). To me what has impressed me most the weather conditions of the mother who shines in Siberia, and must return home with her partner, older children and the baby coiled conveniently to isolate it from the cold

Childbirth is one of the most important moments in the life of mom and baby, 'you are only born once', and - although we do not remember it - I believe that the circumstances in which we leave the womb and know the world for the first time mark us forever. It was during the solar eclipse of 2006 that these deliveries took place in Mexico, Brazil, Japan, Vietnam, India, the United States, France, Tanzania, Japan and Siberia.

There is no comparison without contrast, so while the world's largest motherhood (Hanoi / Vietnam) is cold and it seems that moms are treated as objects there, childbirth in the water surrounded by the mother of dolphins, it is pleasant, exciting and most natural (for not to miss is the detail of the dolphin - I imagine her female for obvious reasons - circling with joy when the baby arrives).

And along with the births (natural or medicalized) also the extreme that faces life and death, because in the Sahara desert a mother must begin the duel for the death of her baby.

The Talmud tells that, while remaining in his mother's belly, a child possesses all the knowledge accumulated in his previous lives. That is why before the birth an angel appears who seals the lucky man's lip with a finger, thus ordering him to keep that knowledge secret.

This movie doesn't just stand out for its beauty, It also has an obvious anthropological and cultural interest, is correctly aesthetic, and is accompanied by an exceptional soundtrack, including 'A new born child' by Sinéad O'Connor.

Now the little girl says that when she is a mother she wants to give birth to her babies in her house or 'surrounded by dolphins', as in the movie she saw. It seems to you that a hospital is a place too cold, time and his will will say over the years.

'Le premier cri' moves and removes feelings, leaves no one indifferent, although there is a precondition that we need to understand before watching this documentary: the way to be born does not only depend on social differences, but of the conviction (or not) that women can play a more active role during this important moment.
