"Can pregnant women ...?" What future moms go for in different countries

Pregnant women find a great ally in the network to solve all kinds of doubts about their status, especially as regards what they can consume or do. When they have no opportunity to consult their doctor, they turn to one always available, Dr. Google.

A New York Times journalist has done an analysis of what future moms go for in different countries of the world. He has prepared a ranking with the first five searches that begin with "Can pregnant women ...?" (in Spanish "Can pregnant women ...?") in ten countries, including Spain.

The most google for pregnant women

Do you know what are the most frequent consultations in our country? Those related to the consumption of pate, ham, tuna, paracetamol and sunbathing.

It is curious how the worries change according to the place of the world where the pregnant woman lives, the customs, beliefs and myths that surround the pregnancy in each country.

For example, in the United States the most common consultations are related to the consumption of prawns, drinking wine, coffee, sushi and drinking Tylenol. But not in all countries is the same, wine consumption is not among the top five consultations in Canada, Australia or Great Britain.

In Australia, the most frequent searches are linked to the safety of cheese consumption (due to the risk of listeria), shrimp and bacon; in India with pizza, mango, banana and papaya; and in Nigeria with drink cold water, since it is believed that it can cause pneumonia in the baby.

In Brazil it seems that the biggest concern is the appearance of the pregnant woman. What they google the most is if you can dye your hair, if they can take drugs to relieve pain, ride a bike and fly by plane.

For their part, in Singapore, they ask if they can drink green tea, drink ice cream, eat durian (smelly exotic fruit), and attention, in Mexico the main concern is if they can drink coffee, followed by whether they can have sex, drink tea, beer Y if they can wear heels.

What do future parents googling?

We have also been able to know the most frequent queries of men who will become fathers.

In Mexico, the main searches on "my pregnant wife" include "love phrases for my pregnant wife" and "poems for my pregnant wife."

In the United States they seem to be less romantic but also much less involved in the pregnancy of his wife. The main searches include "my wife is pregnant and now what" and "my wife is pregnant, what do I do?"

What worries most: stretch marks, losing weight and sex

A search ranking of “How to… during pregnancy”, that is to say "How (whatever) during pregnancy".

What worries in general are stretch marks, lose weight (yes, you read correctly) and sex, but this also has a lot to do with the idiosyncrasies of each place.

Specifically, what women consult most in Australia and the United States is how to prevent stretch marks in pregnancy followed by how to lose weight, a concern also shared by British, South African and Nigerian women.

In contrast, Indian women are not so worried about stretch marks or losing weight. They are more concerned with how to sleep, followed by how to have sex during pregnancy, and after being mothers the most common search in India that includes both "how" and "my husband" is "how to breastfeed my husband." In some countries men reveal a great interest in being breastfed by their wives.

Given the overwhelming information received by the pregnant woman based on scientific studies, pseudoscientific, beliefs, myths and legends, what pregnant women do is to go online to seek advice. We have all done it.

You, what did you go google most during pregnancy, what worried you most (or worries)? Was it helpful (helpful) to use Google to answer your questions?
