The story of Yu Xukang: a father with a lot of courage fighting for his son's education

This news is not recent, jumped to some international media in the middle of last month. When I met the story a few days ago I couldn't help thinking: “Parents are able to move mountains for their children”. And I remembered Dylan's parents who got the authorization for the dog that accompanies the child in a coma from sun to sun to stay with him; and also of Josh's parents who have achieved the dispensation of an unauthorized drug that could help in a serious illness.

The protagonists are Yu Xukang and his son: the first, a man with enough courage to carry on his back a 12-year-old boy with a disability that prevents him from moving his legs. The second (Xiao Qiang), a small boy of stature (90 centimeters) for his age, who found a hole in the school that is 4.5 miles (about 7 kilometers), has shown that it can be the best in its class. Yu takes Xiao in a basket built especially for the occasion, and wakes him up at five in the morning to take him to class, and then be able to return to work later. Both live in Fengyi (Yibin County), and close to their home, schools rejected the child. In total, it is estimated that Yu travels 28 kilometers a day and invests about six hours, because he makes the complete journey twice. It must be said on the other hand that the terrain is very rugged (no roads). And of course - otherwise this 40-year-old man shouldn't make that effort - there is no school bus that makes things a little easier for them.

I have read that the mother left home 9 years ago, and since then Yu promised to provide the best education for her son, her dream is to get to the University. This story is far from the excellence to which we associate education in other Chinese cities such as Shanghai or Hong Kong, But education is a right for everyone, isn't it?

I do not know what to say, I am admired by the decision of this man who, far from standing still, regretting his problems, looks them straight ahead and acts. It is an example of overcoming, and how to fight for the objectives we can achieve them. It seems that their case has also moved the Chinese government, and they want to enable them a room in the municipality where the school is located, so that their life is a little more comfortable; on the other hand, the school will make all the preparations to receive children arriving from other places, which I interpret as enabling transport lines.

In the news I have also found a message for all of us who live a relatively comfortable existence: when we think we have a problem, let's think about our perception of the concept "problem", because unfortunately there are always people who have a much worse time.
